SIDE SADDLE

(The Lottery and the Pax Romana)

Just the sight of me.
 Passing Fancy.
   Passing I turn away,
not face to face, with my face.

Who is old hat now?
 Sha'nt cover me.
Washes the stain, from my eye.
   But not from my mind.

You should play the lottery,
The dollar's worth the fantasy.
Fucking like its out of style
Man was not meant to be idle.

If God's bigger than,
 every problem.
Then is He bigger, then this rut.
   This two-rut road, this hedgerow.

[we are living in the Pax Romana]

DANGLING

PARTICIPLE

I think I'm going insane.
  Not even looking both ways,
Just trying to find my bed.

Bloods pours from her hands,
She's been playing with those guns again,
She's got them pointed at her friends.

I know this is getting old,
but do I need a microscope,
Just to see what's inside your head.

Colors no one can see,
  A vague resemblance to me,
Like the earth when it meant the sun.

Falling deep shallow not complete fair scenery a few glimmers here
See you trembling now can't blame you how it feels to be used by
someone Every now and then but nothing real these two lives
alike need to....fall in deep shallow not complete fair scenery a few
glimmers here. See you...can't blame you how it feels to be used by
someone you used.

I can't see what you see in progress.
I can't see what you see in tommorrow.
Of all the things I never borrowed,
I won't miss your day by day sorrow.

STRANGE

BEDFELLOWS

Well it gets kind of hot
on the Kalahari*
no friends for dinner
no friends for tea.

I just need to find somewhere
to rest my head.
You make stange bedfellows
culling gold from lead.

I believe that I'm right
and its too late to turn back
you make strange bedfellows
sifting fiction from fact.

       I can justify this with
I can justify this with just one statement:
         THERE.ARE.NO.SUCH.THINGS.AS.FAILURES.JUST.QUITTERS

I just need to find somewhere
to rest my head.
You make strange bedfellows
culling gold from lead.

Refers to a desert, not squid

NERVOUS

[Don't tell the princess about the landmines
Don't tell the dailys about the tan lines
Don't tell me about the headlines]

Nervous people don't get mad, they just get frustrated,
I think living marginal, is highly overrated.

       Got a job?
       In fact I've got one
       Right under my thumb
       Got a job?

       A royal family?
       In fact we've got one
       Just like a cuban cigar
       Our royal family.

       Want a job?
       In fact I've got one
       Right under my thumb
       Want a job?

Your beautiful.
You're beautiful.

ROCK BARN

Forces of nature
 Flow through me
 Lighting up the sun, ceaselessly

Forces of nature
 Flow through me
Lighting up the sun, lighting up the sun

catch as catch can, a man of sin, walked here
played with his toys and vanished into thin air
His 56 Chevy is still rusting behind the barn.

where is the line to stop supplying compassion
where is the line to stop supplying redemption
  where is the line (X3)

Forces of nature
 Flow through me
Lighting up the sun, shutting down me.

Raised up in white light
 o'er empty streets
lighting up the sun, lighting up the sun.

Sneak up behind and turn the key quietly
I most certainly did not ask for this.

where is the line to stop supplying compassion
where is the line to stop supplying redemption
  where is the line (X3)

You'll leave me, so I can't leave you.
You'll leave me, so I can't leave you.

You better learn how to swim, before the ship sinks. (X2)
Better get out of the boat, before this ship sinks.

Snow comes tumbling down
Seconds leave rumbling down
9 miles out of town.

I can feel you here
breathing your breath
Its like you never left.

KEEP YR

MOUTH SHUT>

"every second counted" - from Maco Rising by Jesse DeCaire

I'll count my blessings
  When it stops raining.
Keep my mouth shut,
  'Cause its just not helping.

Feign compliance, consequence
Even though you don't know why
If you move to fast, I'll move to slow
   Even though we don't try.

I'll put the top down
   when day breaks.
You know I love you
   Even though we're both yelling.

Sleep standing up, fill your cup
With things you wish you really hadn't said
If you read my mind, I'll steal your thoughts
Even though we don't even try.

CONCUSSION

#14

She has a way down.
Zeroes and ones rule her life.

Shut it up
load it up
shut it up
now.

10 percent
20 percent
50 percent
60 percent
away.....

Static on the radio static on the phone lines.

SEDATED

Softly, gently, talk to me about anything that I want to hear.
Blunted dead lazy cares, staring at the wall and wonder
why nothing ever happens here.

   "Sad hours, sorrow brings."
Wasted time on dutifully pounding on....
   Sedated hunger and incompetent flings,
   nothing ever happens with the.......

Bad advices for selfish vices and wonder why I'm thinking
stupid thoughts.
Changing states of mind like I'm changing TV stations
the curtain is falling on these boring sensations.

   "Sad hours sorrow brings,"
   nothing ever happens with the
   The same old meaningless things.
Contains a line from Shakespere's "Romeo and Juliet"

SEE YOU

ON THE

GROUND

When I wake from my dream, please be there.

(I don't want to see you here the mosquitos are everywhere,
Yellow fever, yellow scare. delerium chokes the air.
We're all out of quanine the enemy stole it from our boat,
So cram your fingers down my throat so I can test the new antidote)

See you on the ground,
See you on the ground.
So go on, pop my baloon, my bones aren't hollow.
When I wake from my dream, see you on the ground.

THE

LAND

EFFECT

I don't
want to
tell you
something
Your taste
your smell
makes me ill
Can't sit still
Does a coward cry
at a sad movie
or does a better man
keep it in
I don't
want to
tell you
something
2,3,4
Edwin Land
takes a photograph
in a child's park
better make it quick
Gestalt
One and one
One and one
Is something more
2,3,4 "Howl! Rolling on the floor"
You got mine, I got yours
I got mine, that's for sure

FIREFIGHT

'99

The rains came and put out the fire
The rains came and put out the fire
We don't need no desire
String them up, burn all the liars
It only takes one spark
To burn for a thousand years
The gallows, they are thirsty
String them up, burn all the liars.
Save my life, not those houses.

YOU LOOK

PRETTY IN A DRESS

After everything I've done for you,
The least you can do is look me in the eye.
Don't you want me?
Do I have to break down the door?
Sorry my voice is not deep like Lenny Cohen's
Sorry a fire always burns inside
Life to short to let it pass you bye
Acting sad is just the perfect lie.
You Look Pretty In A Dress
Within and Without
Shame and Sex (gender)
I must confess

JUSTIN'S

SONG #4

She thinks that I'm a fake
Watches every move I make
I wish she though that I was fun
Then I could be the only one
From this day and forever
Your moves are fucking clever
I'll never let you
I'll never let you down.
You
Go
Home
Now

Qué Será

Ya Está

My ears are ringing
The alcohol still burns my throat
Sometimes the value is lost on those
Who know the dance steps note for note

  Qué Será Ya Está
When I'm dancing all I remember
Is still frames when I close my eyes
Forward falls if the past finally dies

    This is real
    God is not a joke
    There's something behind
    All the mirrors and smoke.

The SUN

SETS in the

SOUTH

Surrender
Your Heart
Surrender
My Mind
Rolling and spinning around.
Rotting at Every Red Light.
You don't even know.
The sun, it sets in the south.
Moving south, to where no one else is around.
No one needs to know, just don't let it show.
You don't have to talk. Your secrets are safe with you.
Keep them gaurded well, you just can't ever tell
where you're Where you....
The sun sets in the south around here, don't you know?
Keep it gaurded well, you just can't ever tell!
Believe in a lie I can't understand the facts ayway.
They won't believe the fucking truth anyway.
Talkin to me? Well no one asked you anyway.
The sun sets in the south around here every day.
 Say bye.

NO

TEASING

The way you stole my heart from me.
No holding, No loving, no thinking, no kissing, NO TEASING, no feeling.
Say Goodbye.

Like It Here

In a land far away, not where I am today. If you LIKE IT HERE,
then you'll die right here singing la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
I admit, I was wrong. (I guess it will be that long.)
I see it now, so clearly, today.
Show me, tell me.
I see it now so clearly,
Why don't you never go?

STEINBECK

Dive down, something at the bottom.
Shamed down, nothing's gonna help us,
if we run they'll catch us.
Innocent found the pearl of the world,
Hold your breath and wish for a better life.
Tilt the stakes and stake your claim
nothing will ever be the same
can't throw it back or keep it in the
prize's price is on your head.
Why don't you divide the power with those with none.
It's not like you don't have enough.
It's not like charity is that tough.
Inspired by the Steinbeck novella "The Pearl"

JUSTIN's

SONG #2

See you on the couch.......
What do we want to hear, the truth?
From the mouths of our most dearest peers. I don't think so!
You lie, you lie, couldn't meet four more comfortable (fucked up) guys
is what she said. She lies
What about this girl...Where does she fit?
I wonder if she is afraid.
Oh, It's like a parade when she is around.
They follow, we follow, oh yeah? yeah.
If you open your heart, then I'll open up mine.
When I speak to you, please have an open mind.
You opened up yours, so then I opened up mine.
Seems when I speak to, you just feed me a line.
you just feed me a line.
you just feed me a line.
But you can get away with it because you're so fucking beautiful.

The Blob

I don't have to kill you you're already killing yourself.
I don't have to love you you already love yourself.
Like THE BLOB on the 50's movie screen
the more I fight the more it eats of me.
Eat the lie swallow it whole, dig yourself a coffin-sized hole
won't drag me in with your wealth of sin,
make me lie in an ocean of hate.
You're killing me and you're killing yourself,
you can't see the forest from the trees.
Shattered into a million miles of nothing.
At least that's what it will be like if you die alone.

Silent Auction

An introduction.
A bargain Sale.
A SILENT AUCTION,
of all that's failed.
Silence, silence,
the minds of those who've wasted away still have many stories to tell.
Crazy? Maybee,
at least I have my own ideals, at least I have a mind.
Silent auction, sellling the marginal.
Call me, if you can spare the time,
brother, can you lend a dime?

Ballade

Four chords in a circle, it's really nothing new. BALLADE
Lost somewhere down the road,
it will turn up I'm told.
If I can't have back my virginity,
I'd at least like my sanity.
I walk around this lonesome town I don't know what to do.
Their eyes just don't seem to meet mine I don't know what to do.
They think I'm a fucking idiot I don't know what to do.
So Lay.
Soleil.
lost somewhere down the road.
With everyone I know.
If I hate them then why lure them in,
just becuase I've had sex with them.

Thin like Water

unitelligable everything is watered down.
All of your excuses here are watered down.
Every lie that you speak is watered down.
Everything about your life is watered down.
I don't want to know.
Where you'd rather be.
Whatever you want.
It's over can't you see.
Don't tell me I won,
Just because you lost.
Whatever you want,
It makes no difference to me.

Justin's Song #1

Why do people think in such God-awful ways? where as to not even realize what's real or make-believe. walk around so much thinking, that they start living their lives in their little own imaginary world. I'll tell you acting without thinking can line you up in some really bad trouble. But we keep doing this all in the name of cool. We'll get drunk, let's get high, think of our lives, then we'll cry. These cures, they can make you feel better, go cry on your best friend's back, and tell him that you love him. Yeah you see these people walking around, not knowing what they're doing. Hurting themselves, hurting others too Yeah I told you acting without thinking can line you up in some really bad trouble. But we do this in the name of cool, yep, its all in the name of cool. We'll get drunk, we'll get high, we'll think of our lives, then we'll cry. These cures, they can make you feel better. I want all my best friends back, so I can tell them that I love them. I'll go over there, tell you that I love you, then you'll walk away never to be seen again. Ohh, I haven't seen you in such a very long, long time.

Correction v. Crash

Mark your calenders! The stock market crashed today.
Turn the lights down low, burn some candles and insence,
Try to forget that most people have already given up trying to fight it.
Overeducated. Underemployed, and dog tired.

I tried to write you last night but the light
burned out and the pen was out of ink.
Living in a rat trap with a mouse trap steering clear of black cats,
                            and women wearing black hats.
Carefully perched on the edge of a broken car, smokey bars,
                            talking shit and playing cards.

Neely O'Hara

I must have lost that number
You must have lost your mind.
I must have missed that dropped hint,
Its obvious you missed mine.

How long till I find you
Face down in someone's car.
It shouldn't take another twenty years
To find out who you are.

We'll have to change our numbers
And carve out our old names.
Steal the stars from her crown
We'll never be the same.

We started craving normalcy
A nuclear home to come home to
We raised the stakes with eloquence
And we got it
Then we craved a society without class
What we got was a society without class (fashion)
Then we craved glamour
But without class that too was impossible
Now we crave technology
Machines to makes us lazier
I just crave perspective
Becuase we don't know where we've been.

"The masons are calling for mortar
I stop somehwere waiting for you."
Before I sing your praises,
It's me and you after school.

Sea-saw

Sea-saw world
nothing girl.
Indesicion the meaning swirls.
You're just the type.
To waste all of my time.
Make up your mind,
don't worry about mine.
I'll run away, you'll fade away.
The things you said to me,
weren't meant as bad but they cause pain.
They say you're falling to pieces, what about me?
You walk around all day in a fucked-up trance
How long is this really gonna last.
Return.
